VQS GECKOFISH Surf Series - Biaung Beach, Sanur (21 February, 2010)

Preparations for the 3rd installment of the Geckofish Surf Series were well underway the evening before, ensuring that the venue was ready for the young surfers who would tear it up the next day.


And when the morning came she brought the sunshine with her, a full frontal of light and warm goodness to shine on the beautiful swells and barrels that were shaping up. Many kids rocked up to the beach to register, bringing a mix of locals and tourists together, all lining up to show their skills.



The battle begun with the 14-under division that made up for what they lacked in size with sheer guts and that want to just have some fun. Lempog and Komo were neck-to-neck but thanks to a gorgeous re-entry maneuver Lempog rightfully secured the first position.

The 17-under division was equally heated, however Putu Anggara claimed the pole position with his cut back and radical re-entry leaving a huge point gap between himself and the pack.



As the sun started beating down on us, the young guns in the Pro-Am division stepped up their game, narrowing it to the top 3 riders – Putra Hermawan, Agus Frimanto, and Putu Anggara.


Putra having just returned from the ISA World Surf Junior Games rode tighter, sharper and stronger than the rest of the pack and earned himself 1st place.
