Volcom Indonesia Skate Team in IOXC Makassar

It’s the 3rd IOXC (Indonesia Open Xtreme Championship), this time is Makassar’s turn to host the most long awaited decent extreme competition after hiatus for quite a while. As an open competition, the event was also flooded with athlete from Asian region to compete with Indonesian local athlete.
Volcom Indonesia team set foot in Makassar the day before the competition. Indra Leonardo, Domdom, Mario Palandeng, Genta, Ryan, and Rino, also an extra athlete Rodi Munzel of Germany join the Volcom army as we marched in Makassar.

The boys were really in good mood and skate the whole day for practice before the real competition begins the next day. As the competition rolls, the contestants were narrowed down to 15 finalists. And the Volcom boys sure did take part of the final day, nice runs for Domdom, Indra Leonardo and Mario as they progress to final.

In the final were down to the best 15 skateboard athletes, a rough competition for some. Being the best isn’t easy after all, but Domdom beat the rest although it was only for second place on the podium. He went home with 9 million rupiah (US$900) and a big smile on his face that probably will lasts for a week. Congrats buddy and viva la Volcom!

BOL:"THE LAST MAN STANDING!"

RIP CURL PADANG-PADANG 2009, August 15th
At the peak of the window period Ripcurl Padang-Padang 2009, on the 15th of August as the waiting is over and all the contenders from all over the world get the whole thing done in Padang-Padang beach.
The heat draws put the surfers in their place to against each other and find the spot in the head to head match. But all came down to the man of Volcom, Made Adiputra a.k.a Bol from Bali local vs Jamie O’Brien from Hawaii. Fought the match as the only Indonesian left in the contest, Bol himself was up against Jamie for the 30 minutes of best barrels and tubes ride.

Although it was quite clear for the audiences showed up that day, that Jamie was ahead of the contest and really shows how things should have been done. But second place is good enough already for Bol, with an injury on his left knee, that didn’t stop him at all to at least show how the last man standing should fight it and stepped up as 2nd on the podium.
